If all staff and students go through this daily, the risk of a positive COVID-19 person riding a bus or entering one of the buildings is greatly reduced. If we work together on items like this related to COVID-19 safety practices, then we help to keep all of our students and staff safe and in school. Summer Intervention Programs The District is working to finalize summer intervention programs at this time. We expect that most of the details will be available for these programs in the first part of April. Each building will share this information with you and it will be made available on our website. 2021 State Assessments Each State was recently informed by the U.S. Department of Education that no waivers will be granted for State assessments this Spring. As a result of this decision, and no decision from the State of Ohio to modify State assessments, the District will be required to give these assessments in the next couple of months. Grades three through eight and some students at the high school will be required to take these assessments. Details on specific assessment dates will be provided by each building. 2021 Graduation, Prom, etc. As the COVID-19 positive and quarantine cases continue to go down and maintain a low level in our schools, community and the State, we are more likely to get back to some of our pre-COVID-19 normal activities. The Governor has stated publicly that they will provide specific information on graduation and prom in the next week. Once these details are shared publicly with school districts we will review them, continue our conversations with venues that hold these events, and determine how these events can move forward within the requirements this Spring. AW Athletic Events are Now Live Streamed As Anthony Wayne continues with athletics in 2021, we understand many are frustrated with the inability to attend live events due to current restrictions set by the Ohio Department of Health and the Governor's Office. With this in mind, we are very happy to announce that all home Anthony Wayne High School athletic events played in the Dick Albaugh Gymnasium will now be live streamed to anyone in the community via YouTube. These will be events of all levels; Freshmen, JV and Varsity. To watch live, please visit https://www.anthonywayneschools.org/AWSportsLiveStreams . From this link, select the sport and then enjoy the event! It’s that simple. Please note, the only exception will be athletic events aired live on BCSN. Contractually we are unable to live stream these via YouTube. While we continue to miss having all of you in the stands, this is our effort to allow you to still be a part of the game. Athletics and Spectator Guidelines, Due to the recent governor announcement regarding high school athletics and spectator guidelines, the AW Athletic Department will need to make adjustments to our attendance policy in order to follow OHSAA and ODH policy. With this policy, our capacity allowed at all athletic events has been dramatically decreased. While we understand many throughout our community would love to attend athletic events as they always have in the past; unfortunately given the times, this just will not be possible this season. Effective for the 2020 Fall season (with a possibility to go to Winter and Spring) ALL tickets must be purchased online. There will be no cash ticket sales completed at Anthony Wayne. All ticket sales will be reserved for close family of the athlete and event participants. In addition, there will be a max number of tickets that can be ordered per purchase depending on the capacity of the event. There will be no ticket sales to the general public - nor will we sell any AW athletic passes, nor accept NLL passes, senior citizen passes or staff IDs. Approximately 48 hours prior to an athletic event the head coach will send a pre-sale code to the parents of the athletes in that sport to purchase a ticket. After purchase, the ticket holder should bring their phone or paper ticket to the ticket booth to be scanned for entry. Each event will have a different passcode. Last, we will be requiring masks for all spectators to wear for entry and throughout the event. All spectators are subject to a temperature screening upon entry and are asked to sit/stand socially distant from others. Again, we recognize and are sensitive to the fact MANY General fans would like to be in attendance where you just simply can't. We appreciate your loyalty and dedication to AW Athletics.
